Background Take Our Daughters And Sons to Work is a national public education program that connects what children learn at school with the actual working world. By accompanying their parents/guardians to the workplace, girls and boys across the country discover the power and possibilities associated with a balanced work and family life. This program helps young people make connections between what they learn in school and their future goals. While children recognize that their parents/guardians and other adult members of their families have jobs outside of the home, they often do not comprehend the efforts that must be made by parents/guardians to meet the seemingly simple needs of their home, such as budget management, arranging for day care, household tasks, and even maintaining a normal dinner schedule around athletics and school events. Many young adults do not even really know what their parents/guardians do at work. The intention of this day is to enlighten young adults on the work their parents/guardians complete every day and motivate them to begin to set goals for their future. Parents/Guardian Who Take Their Child Out of School for the Day Parents/Guardians should prearrange the absence using the attached request for excused absence form no later than Tuesday, January 30, 2018. This form is to be returned to your young adults’ homeroom teacher. Once form is returned to each student will be provided with a “Flat Professional Person” take our daughters and sons to work project (see attached for more details). Please know that students are responsible for obtaining makeup assignments prior to Friday, February 2, 2018. Questions: please contact Marianne Farina
